The mayor is equal under the law to all others in the city and the state. For the judge to protect the integrity of the court, he had to issue the warrant ordering the mayor to jail. He violated the terms of the bond on which he is free from jail. If anyone else violated the terms, said person would be locked in jail. I do not understand why the mayor has not been removed from office. He is disgracing the position.

The mayor has not been removed from office simply because he was elected and has not been convicted of any wrongdoing. That shouldn't be too difficult to understand. However, this stunt should nail him. He agreed to the terms of the bond -- 48 hours notice for business travel. Now, his defense lawyers say, "He believes it was the right thing to do, and on the spur of the moment, he just went." Brilliant defense. I guess even the best lawyer in the world can't do much when his client is an idiot.
Now, the real question. The judge hinted that jailing the mayor was just posturing so the court could save face (protecting the integrity of the court, and that sort of BS). However, will the judge truly deal with him as with anyone else? Remains to be seen.

How about throwing Larry Craig behind bars for his lies?

Crossing the border into Canada was just plain stupid. He could have made arrangements with the Mayor of Windsor to meet him in Detroit. Better yet, if he insisted on crossing into Canada, he could have notified the court! There is a simple answer. No, he insisted on setting himself above the law, and he should have known better.
