Pundits Begin to Worry About Obama »
Posted By pc25 2 months, 1 week ago in NewsIFormer cheerleaders express concern over who the "man behind the curtain" really is. In the aftermath of Barack Obama’s overseas trip, the liberal punditocracy has begun to fret. Certainly there is reason for concern. Obama’s poll numbers are within the margin of error in a year in which a generic Democrat would be beating a generic Republican by double digits.

"what really irked Cohen was Obama’s “tissue thin” record and the nagging sense that despite Obama’s attractive packaging Cohen was “still not sure, though, what’s in it.”
Ruth Marcus, no conservative cheerleader either, also was not pleased. For her, the issue was one that Obama critics had long dwelled on: what’s he done?
But Dana Millbank really opened the floodgates with a devastating column on Obama’s enormous ego and arrogance..........coming from the pen of the acerbic columnist (whose vitriol is usually reserved for conservatives), Millbank’s column was a shocker.-

The hard facts are that obama is a left wing liberal, and as typical a politician as you can get! The left leaning is born out by his voting record in congress and his rhetoric during the democrat primaries. The "typical" politician part is born out by his flip-flopping. He flops, not because he rethinks a position to decide if it's the right thing, but because it's likely to be popular with a segment of the voters that he needs on his bandwagon. He is, in the short and sweet of it, all packaging and very little substance.

This is where he is losing his college age supporters:

"Richard Cohen was one liberal pundit who emerged from the fog of Obama-mania. Cohen threw cold water on the notion that a liberal Senate candidate from Hyde Park showed political courage by opposing the Iraq war, and then recited chapter and verse on the flip-flop orgy:
He has been for and against gun control, against and for the recent domestic surveillance legislation and, in almost a single day, for a united Jerusalem under Israeli control and then, when apprised of U.S. policy and Palestinian chagrin, against it.
He is an accomplished pol — a statement of both admiration and a bit of regret.
But what really irked Cohen was Obama’s “tissue thin” record and the nagging sense that despite Obama’s attractive packaging Cohen was “still not sure, though, what’s in it.”" -

"the tipping point may have been the Berlin rally — an explosion of ego and meaningless rhetoric which attained the level of self-parody."
"Moreover, there is nothing that irritates the media more than a hypocrite"
You have to wonder what took the liberal pundits so long to see this. It really casts doubt on their own ability to honestly evaluate a candidate.-

jandtstarr2 months, 1 week ago
His explosion of ego ad meaningless rhetoric was actually a speech on trying to bring peace back into the world and giving people a more positive view of the US compared to the last 7 years of Bush devouring that image. The tipping point was the Berlin rally where his followers saw what a future President could do to help obtain peace in the world. Only Bigots could view it as meaningless rhetoric because they can't hear what he is saying through their hatred. It's a shame people are blind to a person that is trying to help them but would rather stand for a person who is out to continue destroying this country. An ignorant republican President with ignorant followers cannot continue for 4 more years. Liberal pundits have no doubts about their candidate as you would believe, we see him as Change we can believe in.

Wrong jandtstarr, That is what the hundreds of thousands of people in Berlin EXPECTED TO SEE, but what they saw was just another empty suit politician throwing out empty words and promises that every politician says at election time. You notice the crowd was not cheering as much as expected, they were disappointed at the let down. They expected REAL IDEAS AND SOLUTIONS, not empty promises with no solutions. Hell I can go there and promise Change, this is our time, we're all citizens of the world and other B.S but that means nothing. And thats what Obama offered, Nothing but promise of change. He has no idea what hes talking about or how to go about effecting change. Just another phony politician. -

And to go evern further lets remember that those supposed fans he gave the speech too were Germans waiting for a concert to begin after his speech. It was a big stunt and a wild production but it was what it was meant to be. Entertainment. It should be expected that misgivings would be given by Americans who just saw one of their Presidential candidates give a campaign speech to Germans before a concert in Berlin. Is his priority helping America or is it showing off to the Europeans? Who exactly was he trying to impress? Us or himself?

Some bloggers were predicting that the media would turn on Obama once the nomination was safely out of Clinton's grasp. I thought that the media was smitten with for the duration, but I guess Obama is now old news, just like McCain. So where do the pundits go now? Maybe Cynthia McKinney can hit one of them with her cellphone and get the Green Party into the news for a week or two.

I've noticed the Pundits worrying about the unknown. That doesn't bother me. What does bother me is these same Pundits forgetting the corruption surrounding McCain. I never hear a mention of that.

I think its weird that a known corrupted Senator completely immersed in Lobbyists and with advisors and Campaign friends deeply involved in everything from ties to the War Industry to
doing business with terrorists, ties with preachers who advocate setting the world afire with war, A Senator such as McCain, would have any chance at someone like Obama who most can only speculate that if elected he "might".........
Gee. McCain is experienced, he's already been there and done that! In fact still doing it.-

They are hacking up these stories just to keep their air time occupied.
If they announce that Obama will win in a landslide, what they have to report and who is going to watch their programs.
Nikki have you tried therapy?
and BTW you just broke one of Obama's Ten Commandments
1. Outlaw the use of the word “they.” He recently claimed “they” would evoke the race card, in the manner of Michelle’s serial use of “they” raised the bar. Who is “they”? (The mean University of Chicago who paid the Obamas quite well? The parsimonious state legislature of Illinois? A racist Harvard?). The result of this “they did it” is the image of a sort of whiny elite, well-off victim claiming that a nebulous posse (conservative white Republicans?) is out to get him. Victimization, conspiracies, and whining lose, not win, elections.
You are even parroting him now..........Got Kool Aid? apparently you do and have had your FDA daily allowance for today............ -

TrueProgressive2 months, 1 week ago
pc, you're the one that needs therapy. The media wants to keep some "suspense" going, even if it's a faux suspense since without it, no one will watch or read, and wouldn't that be a shame to those poor media types if no one gave a hoot about what they were blabbing about.

Um...huh? The problem is that you can't write a complete sentence, have no idea how to spell, and don't have a brain in your head. Other than that, your vapid "point" has no point. Perhaps additional schooling will clear up your problems. Who knows, we may even be able to draw you away from the dark side! Obama will be the next President of the United States, and then perhaps you'll find schools in Canada or maybe even France where even someone who's starting in the gutter can attain a high school education. Experience ? Guess what - John Kennedy was just starting his second term as a senator when he was elected president and good old honest Abe - who is generally regarded as the second best president (only topped by George - Washington that is !) was a one term US representative and even failed in his senate bid to Stephen Douglas........while I appreciate what experience means, I still think this election warrants careful thought (ha!)....where would this country be today if we hadn't had Abe when we needed a leader the most....sort of like these times ?!

It's Hillary or McCain - Obama had his chance and voters don't seem to be too impressed. Obamaspeak is wearing thin. Read today's article on Clinton's Shadow in the SF Chronicle editoral section. Obama will lose the White House for the Democrats. Clinton's nomination was hijacked by a gender-biased media. It's now time to reclaim her nomination by putting her name into nomination at the convention. She can then ask Obama to be her VP where he will have the opportunity to get experience, figure out what he's talking about and perhaps gain some humility. The risk is that if Obama plays 2nd fiddle - we will all be called racists. That will be the day that playing the race card will hold the country hostage - people just won't allow it. This is about competence, not race.

Unless he chooses Hillary for his running mate or unless at the convention they come to there senses and give her the nom I will be voting republican this november. I have been a registered democrat for many years and I feel the same way about Obama that I felt about W way back when he was gov of Texas. I didn't like W then I didn't like him 8 years ago and I feel nothing but distain for the man now. I do not like Barack Obama and it has nothing to do with his race it has nothing to do with his church it has everything to do with I don't trust him. I don't believe he knows what he is doing. I believe he gave a really great SPEECH in 2002 and has been riding on those coat tails and all these people are just takin in by his words and his charm. The democrats had a chance to nominate someone with actual experience and come on people you know she knew everything going on. I totally believe that she was the answer this country needed but because of a pretty speech we will be doomed. I would rather have 4 more years of republican rule then 4 years of another inexperienced dolt.

The men behind Obama's curtain are the Nazi-collaborator, Soros, and the master of manipulation, Axelrod ... Dean and Pelosi are the flying monkeys ... and Donna Brazile is THE Wicked Witch. Chicago is their Oz, and they'll be flown back there with all the hot air Obama manages to blow out. Of course Obama's gang of oompah-loompahs will be there to greet him ... Wright, Auchin, Ayers, Dorhn, Farrakhan, Pfleger, etc. And all the "racists" and "haters", terms Obama'sdisciples LOVE to cluelessly throw around, will be spared an Obama presidency. A wonderful dream. But we could still face this living nightmare in November.

But then you are just another "sound bite" mentality person. I can't believe you actually brought up "inflate my tires," a statement taken totally out of context of a detailed energy plan and the answer to a question as to what we can do to CONSERVE. Ever heard of "conservation?" Oh but of course - there is no reason to conserve - there is no global warming (just a liberal myth), and we are not poisoning ourselves by dumping tons of waste into our environment.

Hillary has been waiting for this and I must say she is one smart cookie. Obama has been really screwing up, from snubbing american soldiers in iraq, not just the wounded, but all while he was there, to not being able to clearly state his thoughts when not using a teleprompter, to telling seven yr. old kids that American is not very good and lately being arrogant with his own supporters. What the hell happened to him?

Are you blind sir? Did he go to see the wounded soldiers in the hospital? NO.
What did he say the reason was? The pentagon. Pentagon said He could have if he left his cameras at the door. So instead of visiting wounded soldiers he went and played african american ball. Yep, African American ball, because calling basketball what it is, is now racist too, just like the Washington Monument signifies racism because its color is white. Barack Obama is not prepared to be president. If Chicago/Illinois were free from crime, gang violence, drugs, unemployment and failing infrastructure I would say, job well done, senator. Instead, the area is the poster child for how not to run a government.
Reply
Furthermore, until Obama agrees to an open debate, without a researched and pre-written speech in his hand we won't know how informed he truly is or is not! Can he think on his feet? Can he handle the tough questions? Can he take the heat? How can a man meet with and go toe to toe with world leaders when he can't even take on a man he describes as old and out of touch? I think democrats have buyer's remorse.
