I've said for a pretty long time that allowing Iran to achieve nuclear weapons will lead to a large scale nuclear confrontation as Israel will have no other choice but to defend itself using all means at its disposal, and the means Israel has are limited.

This means that the West as well as the East (Russia and China) will have to restrain Iran in order to avoid WW3. -

Even the title of the story is biased, implying Iran has nuclear weapons or is developing them. Seeing as how there's absolutely no evidence for that and that they're not violating any international laws regarding atomic energy, it seems a little nutzo for Israel to be planning (yet again) a strike on Iran. Let's hope their plans this time don't involve tactical nuclear strikes.

Somehow neither you nor anyone else was able to answer the question I've asked several times:
If Iran does not have nuclear weapons and has no intentions to develop them how Iranian leaders are planning to possibly use hundreds of nuclear-capable ballistic missiles Iran acquired?
Please consider that without warheads or with conventional warheads these missiles are as effective as rocks (three million dollars rocks).
Any guesses?

It is possible that such a move would irritate China and Russia, and that would not bode well for either Israel or the U.S.

If Israel does a pre-emptive strike against Iran's nuclear facilities, I would hope that the US will stay COMPLETELY out of it giving no assistance of any type to one side and refraining from taking any adverse actions against the other.. We do not have to be dragged into another war. Perhaps our restraint would influence the other powers into a hands off stance also. If the various nations in the Middle East cannot work out differences among themselves, we shouldn't butt in for or against any of them. What are the chances of the US going the way of Switzerland and becoming a neutral nation? Maybe a more relevant question would be what are the chances of the US not siding with Israel in every dispute in that part of the world? Let's clean our own house first and take care of our own woes.

Israel will only attack Iran in case there will be no other option to prevent an Iranian attack on Israel.

Further, it is clear that in case Israel WILL decide to attack Iran it will do it with enough power to assure that the damage from the Iranian counter-attack will be minimal if any.
This, in turn, can only be done by causing massive destruction in a very short time and it is EXTREMELY unlikely that the US (or any other state, for this purpose) will manage to stay out of the resulting conflict.-

Bulltripe. Israel tends to attack whomever it wants whenever it wants even when there are plenty of other options open to them. Seeing as how Iran doesn't posess nuclear weapons and there's no proof of their developing them or plans to develop them, it's just another red herring pushed by the US and Israel to justify ' pre-emptive action ' (read invasion and subjugation).

It can. You see, Israel did not and does not threaten to destroy any other state and it did not and does not declare that any other state "does not have a right to exist".

If Venezuela, for example, started developing nuclear weapons declaring at the same time that the US should be "erased from the map" I would not expect the US to respond by destroying its own nuclear weapons to start with as a goodwill gesture. Would you?
If you're unsure how to answer the question above please recall the Cuban missile crisis. You may learn something.
